This outage will affect approximately 25,000 customers served by the Entergy Texas transmission system in Washington, Grimes, Brazos, Burleson, Madison, Walker, Robertson, Milam, Houston, Leon counties. These customers will experience an outage lasting two – four hours on Sunday, August 30 starting at 10:00 pm.ÌýÌý

I understand this is an inconvenience to our customers who were not impacted by Hurricane Laura and I apologize for the interruption of your service. While the western part of our region was not impacted by Hurricane Laura, transmission lines from this area connect to the area heavily affected by Laura. The damage to these transmission lines makes it difficult to move power around our region to meet customer demand.ÌýÌý

Moving these customers to different circuits will help alleviate the stress on our transmission system and help provide us flexibility as we piece our grid back together.ÌýÌý

Those customers affected by this outage will receive a call, text and email from Entergy today with a notification of this planned outage.Ìý Additionally, we have worked with the electric cooperatives affected by this outage to notify their customers.Ìý

Please note: these are not rolling outages at this time.Ìý

This outage is required to allow Entergy to connect these customers to the neighboring power system, ERCOT. Temporarily moving these customers to ERCOT will take electric load off our system, which helps reduce the overall risk to our electric system as we repair the transmission grid.Ìý

We are working to place additional transmission lines and add local power generation, but until we can make substantial repairs to our system, the electric grid will remain fragile across the Entergy Texas region.Ìý

We currently have more than 7,000 workers across Southeast Texas as part of our restoration efforts. These workers are focused on restoring transmission lines and repairing the equipment that brings the power to homes and businesses.Ìý We appreciate the help from our neighboring power system ERCOT as we work through the restoration efforts.Ìý

We appreciate your patience as we work to recover from Hurricane Laura’s historic damage.ÌýÌýÌý

Sincerely,
Sallie Rainer

Thank A Lineworker: Our Frontline Heroes Power Our Communities /blog/thank-line-worker-our-frontline-heroes-power-our-communities Fri, 10 Jul 2020 20:44:00 +0000 /thank-line-worker-our-frontline-heroes-power-our-communities July 10 marks National Lineworker Appreciation Day. It is a day set aside for us to recognize the commitment and sacrifice made by lineworkers across the country to power our communities.

Every time you turn on a light, charge your cell phone or turn down your air conditioner on a hot day, that’s all possible thanks to lineworkers.

There’s very little our modern society can do without power. At Entergy Texas, our dedicated lineworkers ensure that power is safely and reliably delivered to homes and businesses across southeast Texas each and every day. And anytime after a hurricane, flood or storm – our lineworkers are ready to get to work to restore power to our customers.Ìý

Our company’s mission is “We Power Life.” It is a recognition that the work we do serves a higher purpose – that we provide more than just a service, but an essential piece of keeping our communities running. Our lineworkers are at the center of that mission. They have a selfless dedication to our customers by working night and day to keep the lights on.Ìý

Even now, our lineworkers are doing their part behind the scenes, keeping our emergency and essential services powered so they can continue to fight this pandemic.

That is why I would like to take a moment to recognize these exceptional individuals for their service to our communities across southeast Texas.ÌýÌý

And while in normal times, I’d say if you see a lineworker say thank you, now I’d say the best way you can thank a lineworker is by keeping your distance both for their safety and yours. Please admire their work from afar and above all else live safe.

A Message from Entergy Texas: How We’re Responding to COVID-19 /blog/message-from-entergy-texas-how-were-responding-covid-19 Thu, 19 Mar 2020 22:36:00 +0000 /message-from-entergy-texas-how-were-responding-covid-19 UPDATED 4/14/20

These are unprecedented times for all of us, and at Entergy Texas we take the health, safety and security of our customers, communities, employees and business partners very seriously. We are committed to powering our customers and communities regardless of the circumstance.

I wanted to personally share the steps we are taking to ensure we continue to deliver on our commitment to provide safe, reliable and affordable power to our customers. We understand that the energy we deliver is essential to managing through the COVID-19 crisis.

Safety is a core value for our company. That means the safety of our employees, customers and communities. We implemented our incident response plan nearly two months ago to ensure the safety of our employees and operations. These steps include education around self-checking for symptoms, telecommuting, social distancing and other precautions to prevent the spread of COVID-19. We will continue to monitor the situation and implement any recommended public health measures as directed by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. In addition, we are committed to working closely with local, state and federal authorities as the crisis unfolds.

From the power plants that generate electricity to the power lines that deliver electricity to your home, we are making sure that we have the employees available to ensure the reliable operation of our system. Our operations and facilities remain safe, secure and reliable.

For service that requires an employee to enter your home or business, we ask for your patience and cooperation as we implement new protocols/procedures that ensures the safety of our customers and our employees.

Additionally, as we prepare for spring storms, we are taking the steps to ensure that we have the people and resources to respond to outages as the severe weather season begins.

We are also taking steps to help our customers through these challenging and uncertain times. Effective March 16, Entergy Texas has suspended service disconnections for 30 days. (As of 3/26/20, Entergy Texas has suspended disconnects until further notice)ÌýHowever, we encourage customers to make payments on their accounts, and we’ll be working directly with customers to make payment arrangements if they are unable to pay in full. Customers requiring such arrangements should call 1-800-ENTERGY (800-368-3749) or visit .

For payments, please visit us online at /payonline to make a payment at no charge, pay by phone at 800-584-1241 ($2.95 fee) or by mail to Entergy Texas, P.O. Box 8104, Baton Rouge, Louisiana 70891.

In our 100 years of serving our customers, we have faced many challenges together. But we have never wavered in our commitment to do everything we can to support our customers and the communities we serve. This pandemic is no different. Entergy Texas will be there to keep the lights on and our future bright.

Sincerely,

Ìý
