Powering Mississippi today, energizing growth for the future /blog/powering-mississippi-today-energizing-growth-for-the-future Thu, 19 Jun 2025 20:43:42 +0000 /?p=18010 This is our home, too, and most of us at Entergy are customers just like you. We know it’s important to you that we deliver reliable power at an affordable price. In fact, we take this responsibility to heart and it’s more important than ever that our teams work diligently every day to help keep your bills as low as possible.

Your energy costs at the lowest possible price: 20% below the national average

Whether you’re a grocery store owner, a school administrator, managing your household’s expenses, or overseeing a hospital or manufacturing plant, we understand that every dollar in your budget matters. That’s why we’re proud to say last year our rates were 20% below the national average.

7 cost-saving actions we’re taking today to stay below the national average

  1. Protecting your bills: Our rates are frequently evaluated by our regulators, the Mississippi Public Service Commission, who determine electricity rates for our customers.our plan to keep our rates steady throughout the summer, because we know that higher temperatures create higher usage and higher bills.
  2. Recruiting new power partners: By bringing new, large customers into our service area we not only help create new jobs and dollars for the state, but we also create a framework that lessens the burden for our residential customers across Mississippi.
  3. Building an all of the above generation mix: Using a diverse range of power sources makes our system more reliable, efficient and cost effective for customers.
  4. Modernizing our generation fleet: Modern technologies equal better efficiency, and new power generation sources are in our plans. This will allow us to bring cleaner, more efficient and more cost-effective power generation to Mississippi. And it offers us the flexibility to lessen the impact on your bills should one fuel source spikes in price.
  5. Managing fuel costs: We’re in a constant state of trying to procure fuel at the lowest price available. Fuel costs are never marked up, so customers pay exactly what we pay. Also, having a variety of power sources helps shield customers from fuel price fluctuations and enhances grid reliability.
  6. Putting money back in your pockets: During the 2024 tax season, Entergy helped low-income customers across our service area receive $55 million in federal tax returns. We help customers save additional dollars through other federal funding resources includingԻ, and we offerThe Power to Care– our long-held bill assistance program for qualifying customers.
  7. Offering bill support: Our Bill Toolkit provides customers resources and available assistance options to help them more easily manage their energy bill. Whether you have questions about your bill, need more time to pay or are looking for assistance, our one-stop shop connects you to available programs and services.

Entergy Mississippi is invested in you in more ways than one. Our 2,500 employees across the state are your neighbors, your friends, your family. This is the place we happily call home just like you. As every day expenses continue to become more and more costly, as inflation rises, we remain focused on the impact of our customers’ bills.

Rates to remain stable for Entergy Mississippi customers /news/rates-to-remain-stable-for-entergy-mississippi-customers Thu, 19 Jun 2025 19:45:11 +0000 /?p=17956 Based on 2024 data from the U.S. ϳԹ Information Administration, the average annual residential price per kWh is 16.48 cents for the U.S., and 13.21 cents for Entergy Mississippi customers.

Mississippi Public Service Commission approves annual rate plan, keeps bills 20% below national average

JACKSON, Miss. – On June 17, the Mississippi Public Service Commission approved Entergy Mississippi’s annual rate plan to keep energy rates stable and bills20% below the national average. The plan, taking effect during the July billing cycle, comes as the anticipated summer heat wave will cause customers to increase their energy usage. The typical residential customer using 1,000 kWh per month will have a bill decrease of .04 cents beginning in July, keeping bills stable.

Despite the increased costs required to generate power, maintain infrastructure and provide electrical service, Entergy Mississippi’s annual rate plan offsets those costs and ensures rates remain as flat as possible, while customers’ energy use is at its highest. The company takes several cost-saving actions to achieve this, including:

  • Recruiting new power partners: By bringing new, large customers into our service area, we create a framework that allows us to investment in our infrastructure while lessening the burden for our residential customers.
  • Building an all of the above generation mix: Using a diverse range of power sources helps shield customers from fuel price fluctuations and enhances grid reliability.
  • Modernizing our generation fleet: With new power generation sources in our plans, the modern technologies will allow us to bring cleaner, more efficient and more cost-effective power to Mississippi.
  • Managing fuel costs: Fuel costs are never marked up, so customers pay exactly what we pay. Plus, we’re in a constant state of trying to procure fuel at the lowest price available.

“We’re thankful for the Mississippi Public Service Commission’s continued oversight and support of our efforts to keep rates affordable while making critical reliability improvements and addressing increased challenges caused by vegetation,” said Haley Fisackerly, Entergy Mississippi president and CEO.

The approved plan provides rate stability while also addressing infrastructure upgrades. It includes approximately $525 million related to power quality and reliability improvements, and efforts planned for 2025 to help customers save money through energy efficiency rebates and savings programs.

“It’s more important than ever that our teams work diligently to help keep bills as low as possible, which is why we approach affordability from every angle,” Fisackerly said. “We’re pulling in large customers, so we can direct their funds to modernizing technologies that will benefit all of our customers. And we’re balancing fuel prices, and our generation resources because we know both can fluctuate. We hope this stability will help customers feel some relief from the heat and in their wallets at a time when they need it most.”

As the summer heat rises, customers are reminded that bills are not only impacted by rates, but also energy usage. According to the U.S. ϳԹ Information Administration, cooling costs can make up more than 52% of an average customer’s electric bill. Customers can visitto find a variety of tips and resources that help explain bills and save money and energy.

Entergy New Orleans kicks off Phase 1 of Accelerated Resilience Plan in District C /blog/entergy-new-orleans-kicks-off-phase-1-of-accelerated-resilience-plan-in-district-c Mon, 16 Jun 2025 20:48:58 +0000 /?p=18014 Entergy New Orleans held a press conference last week in Algiers with Councilmember-at-Large Helena Moreno and Councilmember Freddie King to highlight projects in Phase I of the Accelerated Resilience Plan in District C. The initiative focuses on strengthening the city’s electric grid to better withstand extreme weather and improve service reliability for residents and businesses.

The event spotlighted key projects beginning in District C, where work will be visible along the General DeGaulle corridor. These improvements include the installation of stronger utility poles designed to withstand winds of up to 140 miles per hour. The Accelerated Resilience Plan includes 63 infrastructure improvement projects across the city scheduled for completion between 2025 and 2026, with no impact to customer bills.

“Resilience is about storms, making sure that if the power goes out—hopefully it won’t—but if it does, that we can get it back on as quickly as possible,” said Deanna Rodriguez, president and CEO of Entergy New Orleans. “Our city needs to be more resilient, and we have solutions and that is exactly what we need to be investing in.”

Councilmember Helena Moreno echoed the need for grid improvements and highlighted the broader impact. “Strengthening our power grid is one of the most important things that we can do to improve quality of life in our city,” said Councilmember-at-Large Helena Moreno. “This effort also supports public health, our local businesses, and future job creation.”

“One of the first phases is installing brand new poles along General DeGaulle Highway to guard against power loss after a storm,” said Councilmember Freddie King III, who represents District C. “I’m proud to be a part of a city council that not only talks but acts and invests in these much-needed improvements.”

The Accelerated Resilience Plan reflects a shared commitment to improving service reliability and preparing the city for future storms. Entergy New Orleans will continue to work closely with city leaders to ensure long-term grid resilience.
