Little Rock, Ark. – Entergy Arkansas is pleased to announce that the Entergy Solutions Large Commercial & Industrial Program has been recognized as a 2024 exemplary program by the American Council for an ϳԹ-Efficient Economy (ACEEE) in the Industrial category. The recognition is part of the ACEEE’s annual Leaders of the Pack awards, which recognize energy efficiency programs across the United States. Utilities, government agencies and third-party program administrators nominate their programs across ten award categories.

Entergy Arkansas provides incentives to commercial customers for undertaking energy efficiency upgrades via the Large Commercial & Industrial program within their Entergy Solutions portfolio. These cash incentives are awarded upon completion of specific projects aimed at enhancing energy efficiency within businesses. Moreover, such initiatives can lead to increased cash flow through electricity savings and bolster the environmentally friendly image of these enterprises. Entergy Arkansas also helps in crafting a customized energy savings strategy for buildings and integrates energy efficiencies and savings into operational procedures for their customers.

“The programs and incentives we are able to provide to our large commercial customers have such a positive impact for their organizations” said Beau Blakenship, project manager for the Large Commercial & Industrial program. “Making efficiency and savings top of mind for these customers helps them save energy and helps decrease their costs. When they see that savings across their company, it’s a win for everyone. We are thrilled that the ACEEE has recognized our program and the good it is doing for our customers.”

The Entergy Arkansas Large Commercial & Industrial Program provides technical and financial assistance for energy efficiency programming within large industrial facilities with a peak demand of 100 kilowatt hours or greater.

In 2023, the program served 311 customers, who collectively saved over 105 megawatt hours and achieved carbon dioxide emissions reductions of 76,000 metric tons. This success was achieved from continuous energy improvement (CEI) and custom process- and energy-efficiency projects. The CEI program works closely with commercial customers to provide training, incentives, and free assessments for participating customers.

“These exceptional efficiency programs are leading the way for saving energy, cutting pollution, and lowering energy bills,” said Jasmine Mah, senior research analyst at ACEEE and lead researcher for Leaders of the Pack. “Utilities and third-party program administrators seeking to establish or improve energy efficiency programs can look to this diverse set of leaders as models.”

ACEEE staff reviewed nearly 100 nominations from across the country. The committee evaluated programs on factors such as ambitious long-term goals, interim metrics to measure progress, effective marketing reaching target audiences, performance evaluation for ensuring effectiveness, and community engagement, especially with historically underserved communities.

Entergy Texas welcomes fall with safety reminders /news/entergy-texas-welcomes-fall-with-safety-reminders Tue, 24 Sep 2024 02:37:00 +0000 /blog-post/entergy-texas-welcomes-fall-with-safety-reminders/ These simple tips can help you avoid accidents and injuries

THE WOODLANDS, Texas – Although warmer weather is still lingering around, soon cooler temps will be here. This time of year can also bring opportunities for customers to tackle home improvement or landscaping projects. As fun and gratifying as these activities can be, no one wants them to result in an accident or injury. Entergy Texas has some helpful tips for staying safe this fall.

Stay safe outdoors

The Halloween season brings children the fun of wearing costumes, enjoying candy and attending fall festivals and carnivals. The offers tips to help children celebrate safely. Prepare to welcome trick-or-treaters to your home safely by checking outdoor lights and making sure walkways and steps are well-lit and free of any tripping hazards. Any extension cords should be specifically designated for outdoor use. Use rubber gaskets in light sockets or hang sockets downward to keep water out and remember to turn outside lights and decorations off when you are away from home or asleep. Help children with videos, activities and other resources.

Keep safety first with home projects

Fall is a great time to tidy up and prep your property for winter. When cleaning up fallen leaves and branches or trimming trees, always use caution and be aware of overhead lines. Position your ladder away from overhead wires, so trimmings will not fall onto power lines. If this happens, always assume downed wires are energized and call 1-800-ENTERGY for help.

If your fall spruce-up includes digging up flower beds, trees or shrubs, remember to call before you dig. Calling 811 before you dig will keep you safe and prevent disruption of utility services to your neighborhood.

When performing maintenance activities that require a ladder inside or out, be sure to wear proper footwear, position the ladder on a flat surface, and have someone nearby to spot you.

Daylight Saving Time ends November 3

When Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, Nov. 3, fewer hours of daylight will make it harder to see children going to and from the school bus in the mornings and evenings. When driving, avoid distractions and watch for children in the neighborhood. The offers additional tips for ensuring children arrive to and from school safely.

When setting your clocks to fall back an hour, take the time to check the batteries in your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors. All homes should contain a carbon monoxide detector to help identify the colorless and odorless gas that can cause serious illness or death.

Stay safe and warm indoors

Candles can add a warm ambience to an autumn evening, but remember it is never safe to leave candles burning unattended. A small sputter or an errant flame can cause a fire in an instant.

They are large consumers of energy and a fire hazard and should be kept at least three feet away from draperies, rugs and furniture. Additionally, homeowners who use a gas or electric furnace should schedule an appointment for service by a certified technician to make sure it is safe for operation and for greatest efficiency.

A wood-burning stove or fireplace can add warmth and coziness to a room but should also be used with caution and proper preparation. Have your chimney cleaned by a professional before the first fire is lit. Fallen leaves, animal nests and other debris can cause the smoke to vent into your home rather than outside and cause a fire.

Remember to replace dirty air filters inside and remove debris from the unit outside to ensure your HVAC unit works efficiently through all seasons.

Be ready for inclement weather

lasts through the end of November, so it is important to not let your guard down even when the weather begins to cool. Prepare now for severe weather that may come your way by

Entergy partnered with local community advocate organization Boss Lady Economic Planning Development, led by Pam Chatman, to hold the half-day event. The customer engagement event showcased a variety of Entergy tools and programs that help customers manage energy usage and bills.

“Our objective was to create an opportunity for customers to learn about our programs and services as well as discuss any questions they may have about their bills or service,” said Ann Becker, senior manager of sustainability for Entergy. “We partnered with a local community organization led by Dr. Pam Chatman, who is really committed to the community, and she made sure the community was aware of this opportunity. The response was very positive.”

Customers learned about that will help them manage their energy usage while staying comfortable this summer. “We helped our customers with tips on managing their usage and their bills during the summer heat,” said Lindsey Peyton, customer service manager in Cleveland. “We also introduced our participants to our new . It was a good community event. We signed up for information on how to have better lighting around our home, so that was good information.”

Participants were treated to demonstrations of the protective equipment Entergy’s lineworkers wear and use to stay safe while doing their jobs. The protective equipment included rubber sleeves, rubber gloves, insulated protective equipment, fire retardant clothing, line hoses, blankets, insulator hoods, hard hats, safety glasses and more.

“They let me try on some of their equipment,” said Mary Johnson, an Entergy customer from Cleveland. “I got the chance to go outside and cut some wires like they use and I did it! It’s been helpful and a good learning experience.”

Electrical safety principles were also highlighted by the Arcs and Sparks demonstration, which educates customers on staying safe around power lines and the importance of keeping limbs, ladders, balloons and other items from coming into contact with the lines.

“I live here. This is my community and these are my customers—customers I see every day at the grocery store and the gas station,” said Lacey Little, line supervisor, Cleveland. “This event gave us the opportunity to explain exactly what we do. It was a good feeling.”

Entergy also partnered with North Mississippi Rural Legal Services to offer free legal guidance on a variety of topics, including .

Entergy and Boss Lady Economic Planning Development have worked together on several energy efficiency kit giveaways and activities to help Deltans over the past several years.

“It’s getting hot; bills are rising, so people had questions on what they can do,” said Chatman. “I have had a partnership with Entergy for so many years. It helps me to serve people and meet them where they are, so I’m just grateful to Entergy for choosing me to be one of their partners.”

In addition to gaining information, accessing resources, signing up for programs and having their questions answered, participants were given several items that will help them stay cool and reduce their bills this summer. ϳԹ efficiency kits, box fans, cases of water, lawn chairs, and plastic swimming pools that children love to play in during the summer were given away.
