Mcadory lights up the dome for a Saints victory over the Falcons! /blog/mcadory-lights-up-dome-for-saints-victory-over-falcons Thu, 14 Nov 2024 22:36:00 +0000 /mcadory-lights-up-dome-for-saints-victory-over-falcons Minutes before kickoff and just after player introductions, the lights go off in the Superdome. With only cell phones and jumbotrons to light the field, someone must flip the switch to get the game going.

On November 10, that someone was Entergy Mississippi’s Lineman of the Game Jimmy Mcadory!

Mcadory, who has been a lineman for 11 years and employed by Entergy for 3 and a half years, works from the Madison Network Office. He first started his career by attending Holmes County Community College’s lineman program. “I was working in construction and thought it would be a good way to expand my skills,” he said.

As a Madison County native, he’s not just serving customers. He’s also serving his own community. “It’s a rewarding job, especially during storms,” Mcadory said. His most memorable storm to work has been Hurricane Laura. “It was a long and tough job, being on the road for a month. But I we pushed through, and it felt good to be helping people.”

Mcadory and his wife, Taylor, enjoyed time on the sidelines watching the pre-game warm-ups, making friends with Gumbo the Saints mascot and enjoying food in the Patrons VIP tent.

Later, while Mcadory kicked back in the Entergy suite, a video starring him played across the dome. He was the opener of the four quarters of hard play between the Saints and the Falcon – with the black and gold snatching a win!

Frugé grew up watching his father and grandfather work for the company and says they were his inspiration.

“Even though neither of them worked as a lineman, they definitely inspired me to join the Entergy team,” said Frugé, who is now a journeyman lineman at Entergy Arkansas. “I definitely looked up to the line crews and knew I wanted to point my career in that trajectory.”

Frugé started working at Entergy in meter services when he was 18 years old.. He then began his lineman apprenticeship at Entergy Texas in the Huntsville network. Today, he works as a journeyman line worker for Entergy Arkansas in the Conway network and has been with the company for 11 years.

“Andy works extremely hard to please customers and makes his position look easy,” said Heath Holland, Entergy Arkansas line supervisor for the Conway network. “He takes great pride in his work and strives to make his work area the best it can be. We are so proud to have Andy here at Entergy Arkansas and in the Conway network.”

“It is a fun and challenging career,” said Frugé. “It takes true dedication and mental strength to press forward and restore power, no matter the time, weather or conditions. I thoroughly enjoy serving my community by restoring power after a storm.”

Frugé says his most memorable working moment so far happened last year, when an EF3 tornado ripped through Little Rock on March 31. While working on the power restoration, his wife went into labor with their first child.

“Behind every great lineman is an outstanding woman who supports him,” said Frugé. “I try to spend all my free time with my family, striving to be the best dad I can be.” He and his wife Stephanie live in Conway with their daughter, Evelyn, who is now one-and-a-half years old.

Frugé is being recognized for his outstanding work ethic and dedication by the Entergy Arkansas leadership team. From power poles to goalposts: Evan Fraser named Entergy Lineman of the Game /blog/from-power-poles-goalposts-evan-fraser-named-entergy-lineman-game Fri, 20 Sep 2024 08:29:00 +0000 /from-power-poles-goalposts-evan-fraser-named-entergy-lineman-game The role of a lineman in football is crucial to the success of any team, yet it often goes unnoticed by casual fans. Tasked with protecting the quarterback and creating running lanes, offensive linemen are unsung heroes in the trenches, using their strength and technique to block defenders. On the other side of the ball, defensive linemen aim to disrupt the offense, applying pressure on the quarterback and stopping the run. Whether on offense or defense, linemen are the foundation of any team’s strategy, setting the tone for success on the field.

The same is true for our Entergy Arkansas lineworkers as they are the unsung heroes playing a critical role in maintaining the infrastructure that keeps communities running. Responsible for installing, repairing and maintaining electrical power systems, lineworkers endure challenging conditions, often climbing poles or working in bucket trucks to ensure electricity flows safely to homes and businesses. Whether responding to outages after severe weather or performing routine maintenance, lineworkers face the risk of high voltage and extreme heights daily. Their work is essential to modern life, guaranteeing that power systems remain reliable and resilient.

With all the hard work these lineworkers do to serve Entergy Arkansas customers, it is important to say “thank you” to these unsung heroes and show appreciation for their work. As a way of honoring our lineworkers and all they do for our company and our customers, Entergy selects a few each football season to be recognized as a “Lineman of the Game” at New Orleans Saints’ home games.

Entergy Arkansas lineman Evan Fraser, a journeyman lineman in the Hot Springs network, has earned the honor of being named Entergy’s Lineman of the Game. On Sunday, Sept. 19, Fraser will be recognized in front of thousands of fans during the matchup between the New Orleans Saints and Philadelphia Eagles. He’ll be treated to a VIP experience, with on-field access and a special announcement before the game.

Prior to kickoff, all the lights in the Superdome will be lowered and Fraser will appear on the jumbotron showing him “flipping the switch” on the screen to light up the dome and power up the crowd for the home team as they take the field. He plans to bring his wife, Vesna, with him to the game to experience the sights and sounds of the roaring crowd.

“Evan goes above and beyond as a lineman,” said Jay Wallace, southwest region line supervisor for Entergy Arkansas. “We say that line a lot, but Evan truly goes the extra mile as he spends time outside of his working hours keeping the lights on for people to help customers understand the simple things like walking them through their bill to get a better understanding of it. He’s always customer focused and is well known in our community for the great job he does.”

Fraser has been a lineworker for Entergy Arkansas for more than eight years and came to work with the company after being an electrician in the Hot Springs area.

“The most rewarding part of my job is troubleshooting and fixing customers’ issues,” said Fraser. “Being a lineworker is tough and demanding, but it’s well worth it.”

Outside of work, Fraser enjoys spending family time with his wife and four children. When not attending football games, Fraser can most likely be seen cheering on his kids as they excel in their academics and sporting events.

Congratulations to Evan Fraser on this tremendous honor!

Honoring National Lineworker Appreciation Day /blog/honoring-national-lineworker-appreciation-day Wed, 10 Jul 2024 19:53:00 +0000 /honoring-national-lineworker-appreciation-day On July 10, we honor our crews who are committed to powering our communities safely for National Lineworker Appreciation Day. This recognition carries additional meaning this week, as our frontline workers continue to respond around the clock due to the impacts of Hurricane Beryl.

Entergy joins the Edison Electric Institute, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and other industry groups in observing the holiday in order to recognize the efforts and sacrifices made year-round by lineworkers across the country.

Our lineworkers are the first to respond and deliver for our communities when the lights go out. Despite facing challenging conditions in the Gulf South region, they endure and overcome when called upon. Whether facing brutally freezing temperatures during ice storms, wading through varying depths of mud and water in bayous or responding during the peak heat of Southern summers, our crews constantly work together to safely display their immense expertise, focus and perseverance. Additionally, the contributions of our frontline workers as we continue to restore power to our customers following Hurricane Beryl cannot be understated.

“By nature, to serve as a lineworker requires an intense dedication to one’s community, and I’m thankful for the crews that have chosen to serve our customers every day,” Charles Long, senior vice president of power delivery. “Our lineworkers have already responded with great precision and care during several severe storms this year and continue to stand ready during hurricane season.”

Entergy Louisiana lineworker rescues woman from burning vehicle /blog/entergy-louisiana-lineworker-rescues-woman-from-burning-vehicle Thu, 01 Feb 2024 01:45:00 +0000 /entergy-louisiana-lineworker-rescues-woman-from-burning-vehicle While driving to a routine job inspection, an Entergy Louisiana lineworker out of Winnsboro took life-saving actions to rescue a local resident from her burning vehicle.

Here’s how it unfolded:

During a stormy afternoon, Gary Ezell, was headed down Highway 4 in Winnsboro when he encountered a damaged vehicle with a woman inside.

“As I pulled over to get a closer look, I realized the van was on fire and other residents nearby were in a panic,” said Ezell. “I grabbed my fire extinguisher and ran to help.”

After several attempts, Ezell and several neighbors in the area were able to contain the fire enough to break the front windshield and pull the woman out to safety.

“When I first pulled over, the thought check, call and care rang through my ears,” said Ezell. “We’ve said this countless times in our daily tailboards to our crew members, but now I was faced with a situation to act on those words.”

Ezell and several others stayed on the scene to help first responders care for the woman, who had noticeable injuries, and load her into the ambulance.

At Entergy, our employees are not only committed to providing safe and reliable power to the communities we serve, but they are also dedicated and ready to assist when our customers are in need.

“I am incredibly proud of the heroic and brave efforts shown by Gary in this emergency situation,” said Chad McMillian, Entergy Louisiana line superintendent. “Our teams face these kinds of situations often and I am so grateful to see he was able to use his safety training to help this resident.”
