On September 3, Entergy will celebrate the third annual Power Plant Worker Appreciation Day—a tradition that continues to grow in significance across Operations Services and Generation.

Established in 2022, the day was created to honor the dedication of our employees who operate and maintain our power plants year-round. Celebrated the first week of September, this date carries historic significance: The first U.S. power plant began operations in New York in September 1882.

While there are more than 1,200 employees across OS&G, this celebration is specifically about our power plant workers—the men and women who keep our fleet running safely and reliably, day and night. Their work is often behind the scenes, but it powers everything we do as a company.

“Over the past three years, this day has become more than a recognition—it’s a reflection of who we are as a team,” said Hisham Sidani, senior vice president of Operations Services and Generation. “Our people are the heart of this company. Their commitment to safety, reliability and innovation is what makes it possible for us to serve millions of customers every day. They truly are the power behind the power.”

This year’s celebration was made possible with support from the OS&G Employee Experience Council, which continues to bring new ideas and initiatives to life. Employees can expect articles, videos, and local events throughout the week that highlight the pride, professionalism, and teamwork on display across our generation fleet.

Entergy’s generation portfolio remains one of the cleanest large-scale fleets in the country, with more than 24,000 megawatts of capacity. Our 28 active facilities span natural gas, oil, hydroelectric, and coal, with approximately 5,200 megawatts produced by our nuclear fleet. Behind each of these numbers are the people who ensure safe, reliable and affordable power for the communities we serve.

Sidani added, “As we look ahead, the challenges and opportunities of our industry will continue to evolve. But one thing is certain—our strength lies in our people. Thank you for your dedication, your focus on safety and your continued pursuit of excellence. Power truly starts with you.”
