New Orleans students get ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Smart
NEW ORLEANS – Entergy New Orleans has partnered with The National Theatre for Children, Inc. to educate local students on the importance of energy efficiency. ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Academy, a live theatrical production developed by NTC, engages students from kindergarten through eighth grade with colorful characters, interactive scripts, and crucial information on how to actively save energy every day.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Academy visited 21 elementary schools across New Orleans this school year, performing for over 9,000 students and distributing 4,104 energy kits to students to take home, and to start saving energy and money. The creative engagement program is in its second year implementing education and kit distribution for the ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Smart program, a comprehensive energy efficiency program developed by the New Orleans City Council and administered by Entergy New Orleans, LLC.
ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø Academy features two professional actors who play a variety of characters.  During the play, students suggest scenarios to the actors and volunteer to be part of the show. The plays address four educational concepts:
- What is energy and electricity?
- What are energy resources?
- How is energy used unwisely?
- How can we use energy efficiently?
The program has been lauded by local teachers for inspiring students to be more energy conscious. Enrollment for next installment of the program will begin in October 2025.
